Do you know what pisses me off?
That it seems everyone can be absolved by saying something along the lines of, “but that’s not what I meant!” Or claiming that they were misinterpreted or misunderstood.
It makes me so angry, it’s almost hard to breathe. And it’s a rampant thing. In a day and age where we can self-edit with the push of a button, it’s especially frustrating. No matter that there are records, and tapes and hard copies stating the obvious….. the bizarre power of “that’s not what I meant” still rears its ugly head all the time.
Maybe we’re not inside each other’s minds to know EXACTLY what the other person means…. but considering that 50% of the population hovers somewhere around average intelligence, we can all arrive at the same conclusion after having heard a statement that sounds selfish, petty, or downright rude –insert your favorite -ism here for effect.
I am just tired. And cranky. And fed up with loads of people. And wishing that more people spoke the truth everywhere, starting with the media…. instead of making up bullshit.
